The heavy contour of the Chaco sandal is replaced with a more reduced platform in this shoe. For my own fit and feel the arch support seems to be more to the rear on these shoes. Its doable for me. The sole has a thick rear and forefoot providing good support if it fits your foot. The leather is classic chucka design single leather(desert boot). I found the heal a bit narrow to start but over time it widen to my foot. The toe box is reasonable, similar to a Merrell, not as roomy as a Keen.
I don’t wear any shoe other than Chaco now. I own 5 pair and really love them. I usually wear a 8 1/2 w . A size 9 M fits great. I do wear a heel pad in mine the arch is a little much for me. Wear like iron. I will buy again. I have 2 pairs of Keens but keep them just for yard work and kicking.
